Privacy & your data
A plain-language summary of what IdeaSpark stores, what is shown publicly and the choices you have.
What is public
The public leaderboard page can be viewed without logging in (for example on office screens). It shows only:
- your name, team and profile photo (if you uploaded one);
- your points, badges and counts of your ideas;
- the team leaderboard: each team's total points, number of visible members and idea counts (only people shown on the leaderboard are counted);
- the titles of ideas that were accepted or implemented, with their category, team and author.
It never shows email addresses, idea descriptions, reviewer comments, or ideas that are still being reviewed or were not taken forward.
What colleagues can see after logging in
- All ideas with their title, description, expected benefit, category, team, status, author and vote count.
- Review comments from admins are visible only to the idea's author and to admins.
Your choices
- Hide me from the leaderboard: turn off “Show me on the public leaderboard” in My profile. You keep earning points, but they no longer count on the public team leaderboard either.
- Download your data: use “Download my data” in My profile to get your profile, ideas, votes and points as a JSON file.
- Photo: upload or remove your photo at any time. Photos are resized and stripped of metadata (such as location) when uploaded.
- Erasure: ask an IdeaSpark admin to erase your account. Your name, email and photo are removed and your account is closed; ideas stay as contributions of a “Former member”.
Security & third parties
- IdeaSpark loads no third-party scripts, fonts, analytics or trackers. Everything is served from our own server.
- Passwords are stored only as strong one-way hashes. Sessions use secure, HTTP-only cookies.
- Important actions (logins, status changes, account changes) are recorded in an audit log that only admins can see.
